Protecting Rights with the Law, Connecting Hearts Across the Seas | Yangpu District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Yangpu District People's Procuratorate, and Italian Innovation Center Jointly Write a New Chapter in Procuratorial-Overseas Chinese Cooperation

On the afternoon of March 17, 2026, Song Nanhui, Chairman of the Yangpu District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Liu Huamin, Deputy Chief Procurator of the Yangpu District People's Procuratorate, led a delegation to visit the Shanghai Italian Innovation Center. The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including strengthening the legal publicity for the overseas Chinese community and jointly establishing a "Sino-Foreign Procuratorial-Overseas Chinese Service Point." Xu Shunwu, President of the Italian Innovation Center, together with representatives of the center, warmly received the delegation and participated in the symposium.

The purpose of this visit was to further consolidate the joint efforts of the procuratorial authorities and the overseas Chinese federations, safeguard the rights and interests of overseas Chinese with the power of the rule of law, promote the establishment of a legal service bridge connecting domestic and international communities, and facilitate Sino-foreign cultural exchanges and high-quality development of the overseas Chinese community. The meeting featured practical discussions on how to leverage the respective advantages of all parties in the context of the new era to provide more precise and efficient legal support for overseas Chinese, Chinese-funded enterprises, and European institutions operating in China.

During the symposium, Chairman Song Nanhui stated that the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese has always served as a bridge linking returned overseas Chinese and their relatives as well as overseas Chinese. He hoped that through cooperation with the procuratorial authorities, legal services could be extended to overseas innovation platforms, effectively protecting the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese. Deputy Chief Procurator Liu Huamin presented the procuratorial authorities' work achievements in areas such as foreign-related legal services, intellectual property protection, and the resolution of disputes involving overseas Chinese. He affirmed the Italian Innovation Center's proposal for procuratorial-overseas Chinese cooperation and expressed the vision of further bridging the "last mile" of legal services.

During the meeting, President Xu Shunwu of the Italian Innovation Center proposed the establishment of a "Sino-Foreign Procuratorial-Overseas Chinese Service Point" at the center. He stated: "As a key platform connecting innovation resources between China and Italy, the Shanghai Italian Innovation Center will fully support the construction of the procuratorial-overseas Chinese cooperation mechanism, actively play a bridging role, promote the deep integration of legal services and innovation resources, and jointly lead the cooperation to new heights."

This exchange not only laid the foundation for in-depth cooperation among the Yangpu District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Yangpu District People's Procuratorate, and the Italian Innovation Center but also marked a new exploration of the "procuratorial-overseas Chinese joint action" mechanism on an international platform. In the future, the three parties will work together to promote precise legal services for overseas Chinese and foreign institutions in China, tell the story of Sino-foreign legal cooperation, and jointly facilitate friendly exchanges and high-quality development between China and foreign countries.
