Spring Ushers in a New Journey | Tongji University's College of Arts and Media Visits the Italian Innovation Center for Exchange

Recently, the Shanghai Italian Innovation Center welcomed a delegation led by Peng Xianjie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Arts and Media at Tongji University. The visit was hosted by Marco Xu, President of the Italian Innovation Center. The two sides held discussions focused on deepening Sino-Italian educational cooperation, with particular emphasis on jointly promoting student exchanges, academic collaboration, and multicultural dialogue, aiming to foster a creative synergy between the inspiration of the Renaissance and contemporary design thinking.

As a key player in China's art and media education, Tongji University's College of Arts and Media has accumulated substantial academic achievements in interdisciplinary integration and innovative practice. The college's team has demonstrated solid professional expertise in cutting-edge fields such as digital media, interaction design, and urban cultural communication. It has also shown an open vision for deepening international exchanges and promoting the integrated development of industry, academia, and research in the new era. The Shanghai Italian Innovation Center has long been dedicated to building a platform for exchanges between China and Italy in areas such as cultural interaction and economic and trade connectivity. This visit has laid a strong foundation for future in-depth cooperation in multidisciplinary integration, talent cultivation, and creative industry practices.

In terms of promoting student exchanges, both sides proposed establishing a regular student exchange mechanism, exploring various forms such as short-term study visits, summer workshops, and joint graduation projects. They aim to encourage Chinese and Italian students to engage in immersive learning and creative practice in authentic cross-cultural settings. By participating in design classes, field research, and site visits, students will have the opportunity to experience Italy's profound historical context and China's rapidly evolving urban environment, fostering keen observation and innovative expression through cultural differences.

Regarding multicultural exchanges, both sides agreed that educational cooperation is not merely about the transmission of knowledge and skills but also a deep dialogue about cultural understanding and creativity. Italy, as the birthplace of the Renaissance, possesses a rich humanistic and aesthetic tradition, while China demonstrates vibrant energy in contemporary design thinking, digital technology, and urban innovation.

Both sides concurred that educational cooperation serves as an important bridge for cultural exchange and innovative development between China and Italy. In the future, they will take practical measures to implement various collaborative initiatives, build broader growth platforms for the youth of both countries, and continuously infuse Sino-Italian cultural exchanges with youthful vitality and creative momentum.

They look forward to using this exchange as an opportunity to encourage more talents to cross geographical boundaries and become active practitioners and storytellers of Sino-Italian cultural exchange.
